SIEGEL, J. M., M. B. STERMAN AND S. ROSS. Automatic detection and operant reinforcement of slow potential shifts.PHYSIOL. BEHAV. 23(2) 411-413, 1979.—A technique for the automatic detection and operant reinforcement of slow potential (SP) changes is described. The SP shift detection device contains 3 inhibit channels to control sources of potential artifact including: vertical EOG, horizontal EOG and high voltage EEG transients. Two EEG SP shift detection circuits allow the simultaneous analysis of positive and negative shifts. The operation and potential uses of the device are discussed.

AN-EUL method for automatic interpretation of potential field data in unexploded ordnances (UXO) detection
We have applied an automatic interpretation method of potential data called AN-EUL in unexploded ordnance (UXO) prospective which is indeed a combination of the analytic signal and the Euler deconvolution approaches. The method can be applied for both magnetic and gravity data as well for gradient surveys based upon the concept of the structural index (SI) of a potential anomaly which is relate...
متن کاملSelf-regulation of slow cortical potentials in psychiatric patients: alcohol dependency.
Ten unmediated alcohol-dependent male inpatients participated in a Slow Cortical Potential (SCP) self-regulation task utilizing biofeedback and instrumental conditioning. These patients were hospitalized for treatment of alcohol dependency after chronic abuse of alcoholic beverages. Somatic withdrawal symptomatology had occurred recently and the patients were free of any withdrawal symptoms of ...
متن کاملAutomatic Sleep Stages Detection Based on EEG Signals Using Combination of Classifiers
Sleep stages classification is one of the most important methods for diagnosis in psychiatry and neurology. In this paper, a combination of three kinds of classifiers are proposed which classify the EEG signal into five sleep stages including Awake, N-REM (non-rapid eye movement) stage 1, N-REM stage 2, N-REM stage 3 and 4 (also called Slow Wave Sleep), and REM. Twenty-five all night recordings...
متن کاملCorrelated Delay of Reinforcement
It is well established that variations in an operant response can be differentiated by arranging appropriate reinforcement conditions. For example, Skinner (1938) and Ferster and Skinner (1957) have selectively reinforced duration, force, and rate of lever pressing in rats. In each case, reinforcement was applied whenever the "correct" response variation occurred and was withheld for all other ...
متن کاملTitle: THE EFFECTS OF DELAYED REINFORCEMENT AND A RESPONSE-PRODUCED AUDITORY STIMULUS ON THE ACQUISITION OF OPERANT BEHAVIOR IN RATS
The present experiment examined the effects of different delays of food delivery with and without a response-produced auditory stimulus on the acquisition of a spatially defined operant in rats. The operant was breaking a photoelectric beam located near the ceiling at the rear of the experimental chamber. In five groups of experimentally naive rats, the effects on photobeam-break responses of t...
